Noon today will mark one year since the store manager, William "Bill" Latham of Kroger 581 in Plano orchestrated a bogus case against Karl and had him suspended without pay. It would be another thirty days before I started writing on this blog about what had been done to Karl in an attempt to clear his name and get him back to work at a company he loved. It would be sixty days later, while being told by Rudy of the UFCW1000 local that everything was fine and that corporate was handling his case as required by union contract, that Karl was terminated.
A year later finds Karl in federal court still trying to get Kroger to do the right thing and fix the problem created by their local management. William "Bill" Latham was transferred and demoted to a store over in Fort Worth days after the suit was filed in federal court and the news hit the media. Two others deeply involved in the case have been promoted despite their actions.
Karl still has not been paid his accrued vacation pay. Nor has he received one penny of unemployment compensation. Those Kroger employees directly involved made false statements to the Texas Workforce Commission and other parties. All those statements and lots more evidence is now going to be seen and heard in a federal courthouse by a judge and jury sometime next year.
In the meantime Karl still does not have a job. Thanks to their lies, Karl simply can't get a job. His reputation has been trashed and continues to be trashed based on what he hears from employees in his store and other stores across the local area. With the help of the Kendall Law Group and a federal court, hopefully sometime next year Karl will finally receive justice in this case.
The fight goes on......
Kevin

One can only hope the guilty employees at Kroger 581 and the corporate clowns are sliced and diced by the attorneys.
One hopes, Barry. One hopes.
Keep up the good fight Kevin! ADA discrimination is one of the hardest to prove but from what you have said in the past you have documented, documented, documented. Which is the only way to win in the end. I wish I could give Karl a hug to let him know that he is right and you are doing the right thing.
Well, it helps when the other side can't remember which lie they told which agency. Telling the truth as Karl has always done is so much simpler.
Putting these people through depositions and should it get that far, airing them out on the stand as well as all the rest of what went on will be must watch television.
What they've done to Karl is all kinds of wrong and I hope it's made right. All my best wishes to Karl and the rest of the family.
Thank you, Earl.
Good thoughts, good karma, even a few prayers being sent your way for Karl. Just isn't right this has dragged on so long.
No, it isn't, Jan. I expect it to drag on into the Spring so they can budget the court costs and everything else into next year.
Amazingly, instead of giving Karl his job back and compensating him for their actions now, they hired four new special needs adults as cart guys.
