While drivers may think roadways are fine, black ice covered by snow is a hazard and can cause deadly crashes. Although North Texas saw some improvement to area highways, many bridges and roadways still have several inches of ice due to temperatures remaining well below freezing today. On Sunday, additional TxDOT crews will be in full force trying to clear North Texas roadways around the clock.

Roadway Updates:

Interstate 35E/35 in Denton County continues to experience issues with solid ice on the roadway.

Interstate 35E in northern Dallas County also continues to experience issues. TxDOT crews continue to treat these and many other highways with sand and salt to improve traction.

Interstate 20 in Parker and Palo Pinto Counties continues to experience issues with solid ice on the roadway. Currently, I-20 eastbound is moving slowly after two 18-wheelers jackknifed.

Interstate 35W north of U. S. 287 is also experiencing issues. TxDOT crews continue to treat these two highway locations and many others with sand and salt to improve traction."
