Weather Update (With Pictures)

Just a day or so ago we could do this so Sandi snuck a picture of me when I was not looking....

as well as taking a picture of this tree that is just to my left as I sat there...

Life was good. Or, as good as it gets these days with everything we are dealing with here. Temps around 80, little wind, and one could sit out and just enjoy the day.

Then there was today. After a night of heavy rain and sleet we awoke to this out our back porch.

Obviously I was not going to be sitting out there today and reading or working on any reviews. Our little rechargeable porch lights look pretty pathetic right now.

This afternoon Karl walked up to the main office area to get our mail and took some pictures along the way. There is a wide bridge that goes across our creek. The below is looking left at the pond outside the leasing office while standing on the bridge....

You can see where the surface has frozen in the bottom part of the picture as the water shallows out behind the small dam that is on this side of the bridge. Looking right we see this via Karl.....

Fortunately when it broke, it broke in such a way that that branch fell away from the building and the apartments.

If one were to turn a little more to the right one would see this....

You are looking west down the creek. Our building is way down on the right and can't be seen from this angle.

So, that is a brief tour of our piece of North Texas. Karl has many more pictures, but that gives you an idea of our situation. As I write this blog post this evening we still have power and are very thankful we do. Many in the area are not nearly as lucky. We know a number of folks scattered across the area that have been out for 15 hours or more.

Tonight it is supposed to go to 10 despite the fact our average low is supposed to be 39. Tomorrow the folks that are doing the forecasting say we will be lucky to get to 25 or so and there is a chance of more sleet and freezing drizzle starting tomorrow afternoon with the next system.

We are not supposed to get above freezing at all until sometime Sunday afternoon and then only for a couple of hours. Considering I found out late today I have an MRI on Monday it would be best if they were low balling things and we warmed up sooner rather than later.

Gives a whole new meaning to "winter wonderland."

True. No snow so it is all ice here.

It's heading our way now. Today it was in the seventies here in North Carolina, but there's a winter watch coming.

WOW! What contrast. Stay safe and warm!

Sorry, Randy. Hope you don't get hit like the area here did.

Doing our best, Marie. Power still on and very glad for that!

We definitely do not miss the weather. How are the ducks?

Morning! They seem to be doing okay. There are about 25 here now. Miss Daisy is still here. There are three Egrets here and three Blue Herons now. We still see the red tail Hawks from down the way from time to time and the Canadian Geese are still over there. We don't see the pair of Bald Eagles anymore.

Somebody released Koi in the creek a couple of years back and there are nine of them. Those big shark looking fish that were in there when you guys were here are still here.

Hope you, John, and everyone are doing great! Don't be a stranger. :))
