In 1967, Kendrick wa named the ninth MWA Grand Master, following Agatha Christie, Vincent Starrett, Rex Stout, Ellery Queen, Erle Stanley Gardner, John Dickson Carr, George Harmon Coxe, and Georges Simenon.
