I was found to be far below normal in both Calcium (which must explain why my teeth were breaking) and Vitamin D. Got put on supplements for that.

Currently with no insurance and having been denied for Medicaid, there is no way for me to see anybody and have blood tests run again.Kevin R. She was to the point where both hands and feet were totally numb and visiting a neurosurgeon when he looked at test results from another doctor. Dad and she walked into the room and he told her to sit down, they were flying in what she needed from Maryland and she couldn't leave until it arrived. Seems she was not retaining vitamin B12. She was on shots for the problem the rest of her life, but she got all the feeling back in her hands and most of it in her feet.

I don't know that this is the same thing but a simple blood test, probably already taken, could determine it. Seems most doctors don't look at B12 unless asked.

Praying for you and the family.

Oh, you don't need to post this unless you want to -- PattyPattyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07677772238389810821noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8849561.post-29769769165882283922011-04-20T16:21:38.473-05:002011-04-20T16:21:38.473-05:00Thank you both. I became disabled when I was 46 and applied for SSDI. I was your age when it finally came through. (The three-year delay was due to the fact that someone mixed up my records with my father's and decided I had been dead for twelve years. Hopefully your application will go much more smoothly.)

SSDI will make you eligible for Medicare, which, in turn, will help in treating your neuropathy.

Kitty and I wish the very best to you and your family.Jerry Househttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09482856733981933159noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8849561.post-40516623737578886432011-04-18T13:09:53.760-05:002011-04-18T13:09:53.760-05:00Me too, Pat R.
