WRITERS' GUILD OF TEXAS MONTHLY MEETING

Monday, 19 September 2011
7-8:30 p.m.

Topic: Pros and Cons of Keeping vs. Selling Rights

Speaker: Cynthia Stillar

Richardson Public Library
900 Civic Center Dr.
Richardson TX 75080
Basement Room

Cynthia Stillar hails from the world of book publishing, where she spent more than six years with The McGraw-Hill Companies, earning her a 360-degree view of the publishing cycle—from publicity and marketing to sales. As Publicist, she landed media coverage for a roster of national and international authors. As Marketing Manager, she developed campaigns for diverse publishing lines. As National Sales Key Accounts Rep, Cynthia sold to big-box retailers Costco, Sam’s Club, and Wal-Mart, as well as to national distributors, bookstores, and library wholesalers.

Now, as head of The Small Press—a division of Brown Books Publishing Group—she’s harnessed all that marketing and sales experience to help authors realize their dream of becoming published.
She is Canadian by birth and supports a number of charities championing literacy and the fight against cancer.
