Over the last couple of days several authors have written me to ask about the status of their reviews. In their defense, I don’t think any of the authors had read my blog recently and therefore had no idea what was going on. With Sandi in the hospital since last Friday, I have not been able to read or work on any reviews. All of my very limited physical strength is being used up at the hospital trying to deal with the nightmare of what is happening.
Obviously, this is also not a good time to ask me to review your new book. Please understand that I am not implying anything about your book, your character or that my lack of response is anything more than my being emotionally overwhelmed and physically hurting and exhausted by events here. I’m glad your baby has hit the market and I understand your enthusiasm as I have also been published in the past.
Please understand, right now, I can’t think about anything other than the fact that we don’t have the rent or anything close to it, my wife is very ill undergoing tests to confirm a horrendous diagnosis, and whatever am I going to do?
Priorities--taking care of yourself and your family comes first--getting reviews completed, not even close. The authors should understand. If they don't, I think that says something profound in itself. Hang in there.
ReplyDeleteI know, Terry. I think nearly all get that.
ReplyDeleteKevin, your family always comes first.
ReplyDeleteMy best wishes go out to you, Sandi and your sons. I hope for a miracle, but recognize the value of the miracles we have right now: friends (more than you know), family, the here-and-now of life, and even if the future holds loss, as it always will, we have today's very real gifts.
Hugs to you all - I am thinking of you today.
Kate
