One of the things both Sandi and I have always liked about our apartment is the back porch which overlooks the creek. Sandi likes to sit outside and work on her craft projects or watch the wildlife--human and otherwise. I also like to be out on the porch as much as the weather and my own body will tolerate. Back in the day, I used to hike¸ go fishing, and do all sorts of things outside. These days I can barely move so I spend time outside sitting on the porch reading and watching.
I knew for sure winter was over a couple of weeks ago when the fish and turtles started appearing in the shallow water below us. Not to mention the fact that the water moccasins are swimming in the creek in the evening as they move up the channel from right to left. Again yesterday evening as Sandi and sat outside for a little while we heard crickets chirping.
For the second weekend in a row the water craft are back in the creek.
And then there is this. In addition to trees budding out all over the complex and surrounding neighborhood, we already have strawberries in the pot.
Yep….Spring is here. Probably means it will be 104 in three weeks. If that long.

Looks nice. I live in a small town near the outskirts, a lot of woods around, and many the morning I've been up early, just at the crack of dawn, and see a small Herd?(is that what they call them) of deer either running through the backyard or strolling around.
ReplyDeleteI enjoy watching them and, while I have nothing against hunting, I wouldn't do it myself.
Pretty cool, Randy. Never hunted and never had the desire to do so. When I fished I did the catch and release deal.
ReplyDeleteLovely pics, Kevin. It was 32 here today but warmer tomorrow. I live a block from a lake. But the rich people block it with their big houses.
ReplyDeleteOff to the right is a small lake surrounded by very expensive homes. When we first came here, we could walk down around the small lake and even fish down there. Then about ten years ago the residents put fences up and walled themselves off.
ReplyDeleteThey even call the cops if you fish from the public bridge.
Must be nice to have money.....
