I used to do that. It gave me a sense of freedom walking in nature. Wheelchair bound as I am now, I've been deprived of it a long time now. I can look out any window in the house and see groves of trees.
It's not out of line to see small herds of deer passing through early in the mornings. One morning I watched seven pass across the yard across the street to a line of trees I knew harbored a small creek(one I used to play around as a kid when that land was still all nature, nothing man-made there.

No deer here unfortunately. But, the creek that runs through the complex brings water fowl of various types so I watch them.
