Modernization...and out of pocket cost. Cheaper to buy a video game than to pump in 1...and then 2 quarters per play...sometimes an additional quarter to keep a game in progress going.

The mall? Well, the cost as well. Discount stores and online vs. the mall. And kids hang out more online now than in the mall.
