“We
encourage leaders of all library and literacy programs in North Texas
to enter,” Katherine Boyer, NTBF’s treasurer, said. “The mission of
North Texas Book Festival is to foster a love of reading, so members
want to help libraries and literacy programs reach more people in their
local communities.”
Lone
Star Literacy Legend grants through NTBF encourage family interaction
that will foster reading together and the love of books, Boyer said. The
grants will supply funds for libraries to plan programs that put books
into children’s hands and provide incentives for families to read
together. One grant will fund a program or programs that are music
oriented.
Some of the funding for the grants will come from NTBF’s GoFundMe accounthttp://www.gofundme.com/blnwlk.
NTBF will honor grant recipients and authors at its annual Book Trails Dinner at 6 p.m. Friday, April 10, at Patterson-Appleton Center for the Visual Arts in Denton.
The
book festival is slated for 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, April 11, at
Patterson-Appleton Center for the Visual Arts in Denton. Authors will
sell and sign books for the public, and authors of all genres are
encouraged to participate. For festival information, go to www.NTBF.org or email ntbf10@verizon.net.
