Yesterday evening Sandi had three CT Scans--one of the left leg, one of the left hip, and one of her belly. The results came in around midnight and were not good. Because of those scans she will have additional CT Scans today with biopsies.
Based on what little she has been told at this point, in all likelihood the cancer has returned with a vengeance. Again.
Scott and I are headed down to the hospital and I will update when I know more.
Doesn't sound good, but I'll keep a good thought for all of you.
ReplyDeleteI hope it is better than it initially sounds. Prayers continue.
ReplyDeleteAwful news. CT scans can pick up what is going wrong. Sending you and her prayers and hope that you have the best oncologist that you can find. If I ever get MM, I think I will just move to the top places are Houston, Boston or San Francisco. I feel awful that they didn't do a CT scan earlier. Can you get a second opinion from MD Anderson in Houston as to what kind of treatment she will get? Dr.Robert Orolowski is the best.

ReplyDeleteSorry to hear this, Kevin. Prayers, good wishes, happy thoughts and positive energy to you all.
ReplyDeleteCT scans have been utterly worthless in the past for her and have never diagnosed cancer. In this case, however, they show that her stomach lymph nodes are huge. The doctor has ordered the CT biopsies so they can confirm the cancer diagnosis as to type. Unfortunately, they have not done the procedure yet so she has been without food and water all day.
ReplyDeleteOnce they know which type of non hodgkins lymphoma it is this time they will immediately start chemotherapy on her. And if AETNA had allowed her to have a PET SCAN last summer like all wanted, or even last fall, they might have gotten a hold of it sooner.
The working theory is the leg infection accelerated the cancer growth and cut off return blood flow from her leg and that is why she has swelled up.
Hugs and prayers.
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry to hear this bad news. I'd like to add that Aetna sucks.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear this, Kevin. We went through similar issues with my father's prostate cancer, and in retrospect, there are many things I wish we could (and the doctors should) have done differently. I do hope that if chemo is required, it can kick the cancer to the curb once and for all. Thoughts and prayers to you and your family.
ReplyDeleteThank you.
ReplyDeleteStill no word on the results, but we are braced for the worst as best as we can be.
