Sandi's Diabetes

is relatively stable despite everything being done to her according to the endocrinologist. She will continue to work with Sandi's cancer folks to minimize the blood draws during testing while getting the numbers she needs. She made a couple of minor suggestions to Sandi how to handle the huge spike she gets from the second day of chemo which contains massive amounts of steroids along with the other stuff.

So, all in all, she thinks the numbers are good--all things considered--and will wait three months to see Sandi again. As it happens it will be our anniversary that day so we will mark thirty years of marriage at the hospital with a doctor appointment.

It isn't like we are already scheduled to go dancing on the French Riviera ......

  1. Hope that she continues to do well. I know that diabetes is an extra burden (I have type II) when it comes to cancer because of the meds bringing the sugar up.

  2. I continue to hold you both in my prayers.

  3. Sorry about the lat reply .... neither one of us is doing too well. On top of everything else Sandi's hair started falling out in huge clumps upsetting her greatly. We knew it was coming, but had not happened and she was starting to hope that maybe this time it would not happen.

The second day of her chemo is brutal from a sugar standpoint as each drug is piggyback with steroids. The main purpose of the steroids--along with some other drugs-- is to help control the nausea she gets from the two chemo drugs.

Hopefully the chemo is working, but we are becoming increasingly concerned it is not as her leg has begun swelling again. We need some good news at the doc today.
