The PET Scan results are in and they are not what any of us wanted, but they are as we expected. The chemo is working somewhat, but nowhere near where it needs to be to have any chance at all of pushing her into remission. So, the current chemo is stopped.
They need to figure out a new chemo treatment plan and see what Medicare will authorize. As it stands now, several options are being discussed with hopistalizing her for five day stretches of a time every three weeks or so the leading contender. But, there is also a possibility of a multi day outpatient deal as well. Whatever is tried next will run for two chemo cycles and then will be held while they do a PET Scan.
So, the plan right now is for her to come back next Thursday for a doc visit and blood work and prepared to be admitted to the hospital for a five day chemo stretch. This may change, but that is the plan for now.
We are not surprised by any of this and Sandi isn't giving up.
Sorry you didn't receive the news you deserve. We are rooting for you both.
ReplyDeleteKeeping you and your family in prayers. Sandi's attitude has to be making a positive difference in her outcome. Hope you get better news soon.
ReplyDeleteDear Kevin and Sandi,
ReplyDeleteI am so very sorry to hear this, yet I am encouraged by her oncology team's readiness to investigate new avenues and methods.
As ever,
Reine xo
Thank you all. Sandi remains committed to beating it and is unfazed by what they said to us today. All through this these past months and years she has been very level headed about things and sure she will be back in remission again.
ReplyDeleteI thought I was prepared for today, but I am having a very hard time with it.
Sandi is one tough lady, as I've said before--and directly to you and her--so I know she can beat this.
ReplyDeleteSorry to learn of the setback, but it is good that there is another route to consider. Hang in there both Sandi and you, Kevin, and your family.
ReplyDeleteI know how you feel, Kevin. I wish things had turned out differently.
