Saturday Movie Review: "Terminator Genisys"

The other evening Sandi was very sick and had gone to bed so Scott and I watched this as it had made it in from Netflix. We have no business spending any money with Netflix where I am doing the one at a time deal, nor should we spend money on the cable. But, this is my entertainment outlet and my way of staying sane with all that we have here. Quite honestly, when it is 2 in the morning and the constant pain and my insomnia is at full blast making me want to climbs walls and staying sober hell, ESPN  and a few other things on TV is what gets me though the long night.

According to Netflix Synopsis:

"In the continuing struggle between the ravaged human race and a horde of terminator cyborgs, this prequel to the Terminator legend reveals a very different back story for Sarah Conner, mother of Resistance hero John Connor."

Well, that is not remotely right. For one thing, it is not a prequel. For another, the backstory is the timeline is messed up and Sarah  Conner already knows all when Reese goes back to 1984 to save her. Not only does she know all, but the original Terminator, Arnold Schwarzenegger is already there and helping her prep for the coming war. It gets stranger from there.

This thing is a mess across the board and the special effects do little to save it. About the only thing that does is Arnold doing his flat one liners as well as a funny piece where he has learned to smile.

If you watch this thing, don't try to make it fit the timeline of the previous movies. Instead, consider it more of a parallel world deal and just accept it does not fit the flow.

Make sure you check out Glenn Walker's review.
