Happy New Year, everyone!
This
year, among your resolutions, I hope you’ll include one to make a
submission to the Al Blanchard Short Crime Fiction Contest, which opened
on January 1.
The prize
includes a $100 cash award, publication in SNOWBOUND: THE BEST NEW
ENGLAND CRIME STORIES 2017, and free admission to the Crime Bake
Conference in November, and a handsome plaque. (The winner is not
required to attend the conference.)
Your story or stories
(limit of two per author) must be: a crime story by a New England
author or with a New England setting for non-New England authors;
previously unpublished (in print or electronically, including author
websites); no more than 5,000 words in length; and may include the
following genres: mystery, thriller, suspense, caper, and horror. (No
torture/killing of children or animals.) The judges will consider
previous submissions, provided they have not been published in the
meantime, and that we have only seen them ONCE before.
For instructions on how to submit, visit www.crimebake.org/al-blanchard-award/. The same stories may be submitted to Level Best, but this is a separate submission process. For their guidelines, visit www.levelbestbooks.com.
There is no entry fee, and the deadline for the contest is midnight, April 30, 2017.
Good luck!
Best,
Leslie
