Bacterial Blood Test--Positive

Just got woken up by one of Sandi's doctors who called to check on her and discuss symptoms. Apparently, at least one, if not more, of the bacterial blood tests has come back positive. The doctor is clearly very worried.

We are now to be at the hospital in nine hours so they can draw all the blood samples again to see if this is a false positive caused by contamination in the sample or something else. So, at least part of our Sunday morning will be spent on the 9th floor of Medical City Dallas Hospital.

We are finally back home. In addition to paperwork snafus, she also was given and IV antibiotic. We are now supposed to be in the doctor's office tomorrow morning. This was stressed repeatedly by various nurses relaying messages. I get the idea there is a very high level of concern, but I don't know what the issue is or how things are going to be dealt with tomorrow.

Thank you, Elizabeth and Kaye. I think we need to start sacrificing some goats. Sigh.

Just heard from the doc---they hope to have expedited blood results in the morning. Good chance there is a bacterial blood infection. They definitely will be doing another antibiotic infusion in the morning in the office. If the blood tests come back positive again---they will admit her and start round the clock antibiotics by IV and do other things. They will call and tell us when to come down and we are to be prepared to be admitted.
