Scott's Take: Superman Red And Blue

Superman Red And Blue by John Ridley and many more is a series of anthology comic issues with a rotating cast of writers and artists. Inspired by Batman Black and White, the artists use primarily red and blue colors to illustrate every page of the comic. The art is spectacular in their use of color to highlight the world of superman.

These tales feature Superman in various points of his life facing a variety of issues from interviewing the man who held him in a Soviet Gulag to his first meeting with Krypto to being late for dinner with his friends. These stories are all different but, all of them feature plenty of heart. These tales are really good at exploring why people love Superman in the first place. Whether it is exploring his grief with losing his father or how he feels so different from everyone else, this is an emotional read.

The book includes small details like when Clark is upset, he sometimes forgets that he is flying or the fact that he was fond of a red jacket as a kid. These little details that longtime Superman fans will enjoy that help add to the read.

This book features plenty of his supporting cast and many of his enemies, but the focus is always on Superman. This read even includes a tale about Val Zod, an alternate earth superman.

Superman Red And Blue by John Ridley is an excellent read and one I accessed through the Hoopla app via the Dallas Public Library System.
