FFB Review: Festive in Death: In Death Series by J.D. Robb

Trey Ziegler had it coming. In a way, it is a surprise that somebody had not ended him long ago. But, finally somebody killed him and did so in his own bed. Unfortunately for Sima and Trina (hairdresser and more for the one and only Lieutenant Eve Dallas), they were the ones that found the body, as they had gone to his place for some petty payback.

The knife slammed into his chest meant Trey Ziegler was long past using women like nose tissue and throwing them away. He had done that to Sima and Sima had planned to do some revenge stuff. Trina had gone along to help out and keep her friend from getting too crazy. They had just gone into Trey’s place and were poking around before they started doing the planned petty payback, when they found the body. Trina had the good sense to get Sima back out of the bedroom and call Dallas.

Good person or absolute scumbag, Lieutenant Dallas, Peabody, and others do their job and always get some sort of justice. After all, as the sign on their breakroom door states, “No matter your race, creed, sexual orientation, or political affirmation, we protect and serve, because you could get dead.“ (chapter 22)

Trey Zigler was an absolute scumbag. He used women for sex and money, drugged them and had his way, and blackmailed others. As Dallas sees it, he deserved time in a cage, not to be murdered. But, he was murdered as somebody took it all very personally and tried to even the score.  Who did it and why are the questions facing Lieutenant Dallas, Detective Peabody, Doctor Mira, and others on the team. The clock is ticking. Not just because the killer needs to be caught. Christmas 2060 is coming in days and before that, thanks to Roarke, Dallas and Roarke are hosting a party for several hundred guests.

Festive in Death is another fun and fast-moving police procedural where Roarke, Dallas, and everybody doe what one expects – catch the killer. The only question is how. Answering that question is once again a lot of fun.
