Why somebody starts writing has always interested me. Maybe that is because, unlike what some folks claim, I did not come out of the womb ready to write. My mom assures me I was not born with a pencil in my hand. I did not dazzle school teachers with my writing prowess---far from it. I wasn't a frustrated high school or college journalist.
