Scott's Take: Catalyst Gate: The Protectorate (Book Three) by Megan O’Keefe

Catalyst Gate: The Protectorate (Book Three) by Megan O’Keefe is the third book in The Protectorate series. In this book, Sanda and her crew faces off with Rainer and her clones for the last time. In the course of doing so, they discover various secrets that reveal a whole lot more about the universe the author has created. Like the first two books, there is a lot more at work here then the limited plot blurb on the back goes into.

This is an action-packed thrill ride that lives up to the previous two books, Velocity Weapon and Chaos Vector. There is a surprising amount of character development for a final book in the series. There is one twist at the end that still does not make sense to me. I imagine I am not the only reader that did not fully understand things.

The last forty pages are a little rushed and some plot lines are left open. Clearly, the way things are left open, there is path left to start the fourth book of the series if the author ever decides to go back to it.

Overall, this reader enjoyed the book and was satisfied, but still had some questions that went unanswered. If you enjoyed the first two books of the trilogy, then you will probably enjoy the final book, Catalyst Gate: The Protectorate (Book Three)  by Megan O’Keefe.

My reading copy came from the Central or Downtown Branch of the Dallas Public Library System.
