FFB Review: Indulgence in Death: Eve Dallas Mysteries by J.D. Robb

After a vacation overseas as Indulgence in Death begins, Lieutenant Eve Dallas is back in New York City and happy to be home in the noise and bustle. The organized chaos at Cop Central puts a spring in her step and a smile on her face. She plans on doing paperwork, checking in on current cases, and in general getting up to speed on what she missed.

That plan goes sailing out the window when she is quickly dispatched to the dead guy in a limo. Jamal Houston died because somebody fired a crossbow bolt through his neck. Said killer did it while sitting in the back seat as the car sat in the short-term parking lot at La Guardia.

It is an interesting case as the weapon is rare as it is the way it was done. It is the first of a string of such cases. The deaths keep coming as Dallas and Peabody struggle to figure out who and why of it all so as to stop the murders.

Fast moving and very complicated, J.D. Robb spins a web of prestige and murder in Indulgence in Death. While I always recommended reading series in order, one could start here if so inclined.

My reading copy in eBook format came from the Dallas Public Library System through the Overdrive/Libby app.
