Scott's Take: Laura Kinney: Wolverine Vol. 1 - One-Mutant Army by Erica Schultz (Author), Giada Belviso (Illustrator), and Elena Casagrande (Cover Art)

Laura Kinney: Wolverine Vol. 1 - One-Mutant Army by Erica Schultz (Author), Giada Belviso (Illustrator), and Elena Casagrande (Cover Art) comes out August 12, 2025. This action packed first volume collects the first five issues which end on a cliff hanger to set up the second volume.

This series has Wolverine’s daughter going on violent adventures to save various mutants after the fall of Krakoa. People are taking advantage of the fall of Krakoa to go after people who are powerful, but inexperienced in using their powers. In the first issue she boldly rides solo, but the next two she teams up with Elektra (who now shares the title of Daredevil with Matt) and Bucky (who used to be called the Winter Soldier, but now goes by The Revolution). They are simple action stories with plenty of violence and character musings. Luke Cage has an extended part in this book, but I did not like his part and did not like him in this.

Laura is not in a good place after Krakoa’s fall and blames herself partially. So, she is finding bad people to hurt as a distraction. The art is good and there is plenty of violence. I read the first five issues through the Marvel Unlimited App. The second volume is currently untitled and does not have a release date.

The numbering will also be confusing since they are relaunching a lot of the current books because of the Age of Revelation (a time skip ten years in the future dystopia event that will interrupt all X-Men titles). I look forward to reading more of this series with whatever format they choose to go with in the future.

As noted, my reading copy came in eBook format through the Marvel Unlimited App.
