Scott's Take: Moon Knight Vol 1.: Crazy Runs In The Family by Max Bemis

Moon Knight Vol 1.: Crazy Runs In The Family by Max Bemis depicts Moon Knight, his various personalities, and his god, are finally in a good place. They are working together and life is relatively good. But that can’t last for long. The god Ra has chosen a new avatar who is calling himself the Sun King and seeks to break Moon Knight by using a secret hidden from Moon Knight by one of his personalities. If that was not bad enough, a telepath calling himself Truth is driving people to suicide. It’s up to Moon Knight to put a stop to these supervillains before anyone else gets hurt.

This is a violent and dark read with plenty of introspection. If a read where the hero is more than comfortable with hurting the bad guys, then this is not a book for you. Moon Knight is not going to give the bad guys a touchy feely deal about how they should change their lives for the better. He is just going to mess them up and leave them writhing in pain. I recommend this tale even for people who don’t know a lot about the Moon Knight character. One of the best things about the Moon Knight character, and in some ways the worst, is that each writer who starts a series with him does the character differently, creates a new status quo, and a new fresh start.  Such is the case here with Moon Knight Vol 1.: Crazy Runs In The Family by Max Bemis.

My reading copy came from the White Rock Hills Branch of the Dallas Public Library System.
