Scott's Take: Absolute Wonder Woman Vol. 1: The Last Amazon by Kelly Thompson, Hayden Sherman (Illustrator), and Mattia de Iulis (Artist)

Absolute Wonder Woman Vol. 1: The Last Amazon by Kelly Thompson, Hayden Sherman (Illustrator), Mattia de Iulis (Artist), and more, which includes several issues of the main title along with some of the Lil Diana flashback stories. I read this through Hoopla partially and some through the DC Infinite app. This is another title set in the Absolute Universe.

Who is Wonder Woman when she is the last amazon and not their princess? Instead of growing up in paradise, she has been raised in the underworld under the tutelage of Circe (one of her main villains in the main universe). She has been raised not only to be a warrior, but a witch too. Riding her undead Pegasus, she will go on new adventures against the Greek Gods and seek to find the rest of the Amazons.

This is partially a horror monster themed title that includes a lot of supernatural elements. Part of the read delves in the horror/supernatural side of things and part of the read is far less monster driven. Wonder Woman is still an incredibly kind hero, but now with a darker origin. Her supporting cast returns with a few minor tweaks. Witch Wonder Woman is a fun spin on the classic hero. The art is incredible but highly varied by art style.

I highly enjoyed this read and I am looking forward to Volume 2. I really like what I have read of the Absolute Universe so far.

I read part of this through Hoopla by way of the Dallas Public Library System and part of it through the DC Infinite app.
