It Is All Over

At about 8:45 this morning my wife very quietly took her last breath and passed away. A woman I have loved since the fall of 1980 and married in 1985 is gone. Her suffering has finally ended. Sandi is finally in a better place and free.

This has been a long, hard-fought struggle for you both. It will take time for your to recapture your own life and figure out what it can be without your partner of almost 40 years. So sorry that you both had to endure this terrible illness, and hoping the strength that led you to be such a stalwart partner to her can gather to help you with the next phase of your own life--one that would make Sandi so proud of her devoted husband. You are a remarkable person.

There are no words from me which will alleviate the sorrow and pain you (and your family) feel. Just know you are in my thoughts and prayers.

I cannot tell how much I admire the fortitude and grace you both showed as you made this journey. I am sad but hopeful you will find peace and solace in your bravery and fidelity. You gave her everything and somewhere she's knowing it.

I am very sorry for your family’s loss. We were neighbors at one point— young moms walking with strollers filled with babies and toddlers past the field that is now Whole Foods in Plano. She was great with her kids —definitely a hands-on mom, taking them to outdoor nature preserves, and always able to find the best places to park kids and strollers during 4th of July fireworks.

If any of us ever needs an exemplar of courage, endurance, and determination, as well as great generosity toward others, we need to remember Sandi Tipple.

So very sad to hear that Sandi's gone, Kevin. You loved and supported her as only the greatest men do their wives. I'm glad that her struggles are over, and hope that in time, the memories of the life you had together keep you company and give you strength.
