FFB Review: Payback in Death: An Eve Dallas Novel by J. D. Robb

Payback in Death: An Eve Dallas Novel by J. D. Robb begins with Roarke and Eve Dallas on an incredible vacation. That tranquility is ended just hours after they arrived back in New York City as she is summoned to a death. Dispatch makes it clear she is needed and she goes.

Lieutenant Donald Webster of Internal Affairs requested her to come to the home of retired IAB Captain Martin Greenleaf and his wife, Elizabeth. There has been a death. She knows Webster and Greenleaf were tight. Greenleaf was Webster’s father figure as well as a mentor, so this news no doubt has hit him pretty hard. Maybe he asked for Dallas because he just reacted or maybe he had a good reason.

He had a good reason.

It was clearly a staged suicide. The question is- who did it and why? As Greenleaf worked decades in the Internal Affairs Bureau, there are many that could have had the motive to kill him. Or was it something more personal?

It is going to take Dallas, Peabody, and others much of the fast moving read to figure that out. A journey well worth taking set in the summer of 2061.

My large print reading copy came from the library we visit, the Lochwood Branch, here in NE Dallas.
