Scott's Take: Cult of the Lamb Vol. 1: The First Verse by Alex Paknadel (Author), Nick Filardi (Colorist), Crank! (Letterer), and Troy Little (Illustrator)

Cult of the Lamb Vol. 1: The First Verse by Alex Paknadel (Author), Nick Filardi (Colorist), Crank! (Letterer), and Troy Little (Illustrator), is the first book in, theoretically, a new series. There is supposed to be more based on the ending blurb, but nothing is listed as of yet. It came out last December, so it might be too early to know one way or the other.

This is an adaption of the hit video game, Cult of The Lamb. In this tale, the last lamb in a world ruled by animals who worship evil gods is executed. With the death, lambs should be wiped from the planet. Another god resurrects the last lamb and convinces it to get revenge on the gods who had him killed by eliminating them and starting a cult in his name.

This is a dark book with cutesy animals that seems to be a pretty accurate adaption of the video game from what little I have played of it so far. I have only played it for 4 hours or so and the game is much longer. If you like violent dark tales you could enjoy this. This is not a light hearted tale despite the fluffy animals. It is on the shorter side since it is only four issues. I enjoyed this book and I hope there is more.
