This hits home for me. Since my amputation and other disabilities, I've run into people I haven't seen in a long time. I could tell they were looking for an excuse to move on quickly, couldn't take a minute or two to pass the time.
I have run into a couple of people I used to work with while getting my car inspected or at the grocery store. They acted like I was highly contagious and could not wait to move on. Rather sad.
