I have to admit---I might sign under the right situation.

A few years ago I would have been much more inclined to sign such a thing to get into a major market like that.

Giving away all rights...without even knowing the reimbursement. Short fiction/shorter articles is easier to understand than anything else. But it'd have to be something totally unconnected with anything you've written or ever might desire to write in the future. With fantasy, for example, they'd have the claim to the world, characters, etc. Anything written on it, even by me would be fan fiction at best.

Yes, maybe under some narrow, right circumstances. The other thing to consider is that contacts and their clauses can be negotiated.
