The View From The House

The grief is really bad again for both of us. It has been a very hard few days.

I dragged us outside this afternoon to try and clear our heads at least a little. The wind chimes were Sandi's from a trip to Florida in the 90s. The apartment complex forbid us to hang them so when we came here, I put them up for her before we started moving in. She loved it. Despite the storms we have had here, they still are intact.

67 here and sunny skies with grass and clover growing in the yard again. Trees in the yard have started budding out. Weird winter.

The View Out Back

Between my not feeling well and the forecasted storms all weekend, I ended up taking some mental health time yesterday afternoon where we hit 85. Some pictures from the backyard.

Hanging Out With That Kid Of Mine

Sunday Morning

It is August here which means heat, humidity, and often very little wind. This morning, after I checked my email, I needed some outside time. It was only 80 as of 9 AM, according to the porch thermometer that has been out there since I was kid at this old house. Not only that, but there was a breze. So, I poured a cup of tea into my new mug that arrived last week courtesy of my brother and his step daughter who were here for a week long visit,  and headed outside with my latest read.

I am working on STAY HIDDEN by Paul Doiron. No doubt you have seen the news of his new book with a different cover. I happen to have the large print format version by way of the Dallas Library. I am rapidly approaching the end of this very good book. Great series.

Porch Time

Having fallen yesterday and seriously still hurting today, I spent much of this day stretched out across the den floor watching football.  By the time the Cowboys were coming on, Sandi had moved outside to the creek side porch. Truth be told, I think she needed her space today and it was a good day to be outside. Thursday and what it all means is weighing very heavy on both of us. Late this afternoon, Duncan, wandered outside to join her.

It may be hard to see, but, Duncan is in the back of the other chair. In front of Ducan is a thing of blue yarn and a completed hat that will be donated to the infusion room for a cancer patient to have for warmth.

A better picture of Duncan hanging out in his frequent feline torpedo position....

Often he gets a bit straight than he is in this picture.
