It is that time of year when the lists of the best books start rolling out. I am not a big fan of these lists because my thoughts are usually very different than what other established review sites come up with every year. Often, such as the case here with the list from Publisher Weekly, I have only read a couple of the books listed if I am lucky.
The 2011 best book list from PW:
• The End of Everything, by Megan Abbott
• Started Early, Took My Dog, by Kate Atkinson
• Revenger, by Rory Clements
• Hurt Machine, by Reed Farrel Coleman
• A Simple Act of Violence, by R.J. Ellory
• Field Gray, by Philip Kerr
• The Most Dangerous Thing, by Laura Lippman
• A Trick of the Light, by Louise Penny
• Two for Sorrow, by Nicola Upson
While I am a huge fan of several of these authors, I am limited to what is sent to me for review and what I can get at my local library. Not to mention other factors such as the huge TBR pile I already have.
So, the only book I can say I have read from this list is the incredibly good THE END OF EVERYTHING by Megan Abbott. Simply put, it is an incredibly good book dealing with a lot of adult themes in a complex mystery. My complete review from last September is here.

I haven't read any of them, though The End of Everything has been on my radar for awhile now. My TBR pile seems to grow faster than I can whittle it down. You don't suppose some of them are getting together and making little books, do you?
I think it could be happening.....sometimes very late at night when the apartment is quiet I hear pages rustling.
