Food Stamps--Update

Back on January 23 right before Sandi went back in the hospital she did the phone interview that Texas Health and Human Services requires. Based on what she had been told, while she was in the hospital, I spent a lot of time pulling stuff together  providing duplicate copies again of things they already have.

Based on what she was told Thursday by phone by "Victor" when we still had not received any assistance or anything in writing, they denied us. Supposedly they did not get anything from us. Since they will not accept or sign for certified mail one can't do that and prove it got there. Our only recourse is to copy 30 pages of stuff and send it again.

Frustrating to say the least.

In the mid-80s, when my then-husband was in the Marine Corps and my daughter and I, far from any military base, relied on CHAMPUS for health insurance, it was no secret that their SOP was to give people the run-around until they finally gave up and figured out how to pay their medical bills themselves. Sounds like the state of Texas has adopted that model, too.

Years ago Governor Perry and crew decided they could save money by outsourcing the whole deal. It has been a dismal failure.

It depends on who is defining failure (what the ultimate goal of the excercise is/was).

As defined by denying those who truly need the benefit, definately a failure. No question about it.

All I know is that we are in a very bad way here and need any and all help.
