Sandi Hospitalized

Sandi was admitted late this afternoon to Medical City Dallas Hospital for chemotherapy and tests.  The only good news I can share is that she does not have a blood infection near as they can tell based on the preliminary test results.

The belief now is that her cancer  is most likely undergoing explosive growth. This nightmare scenario would explain the heavy night sweats, the fevers, the weight loss (four more pounds in two days) and other symptoms. While she does still have viral croup, if the cancer is explosively growing everywhere in her (as it has done before) it is a way bigger risk to hold the chemo back. So, the chemo was started in the hopes that it will still work.

Tests of various types may be done depending on approval by Medicare as well as how she is handling the chemo and everything else. She did not do well with the first chemo drug today as her blood pressure went very low and they had to intervene several times to stabilize her. What will happen the next few days is anyone's guess at this point.

Prayers continue, that the chemo will work knocking back the cancer and not have adverse effects, and the infection will be overcome.

Thanks, guys. I was a bit stunned that this was a possibility, but Sandi was not surprised. After the doc left us to go make arrangements, she looked at me and said, "I knew it was active." She has felt this way for two weeks now and just did not tell me as she did not want me freaking out.

Ever since she was diagnosed back in 2011 she has been, somehow, aware before the tests tell us what her cancers are doing. Sometimes the news she has felt would be good, others times not nearly so good. How she knows I can't explain. I don't question it anymore.

Thank you, everyone. She seems to be doing a little better today. All they have done so far is chemo and she seems to be tolerating that without too much trouble. While she has not felt up to crocheting today, she has been able to eat some food and has not been nauseous which is a very good thing.

Thank you for that.
