Scott's Take: Ant-Man: Natural Enemy by Jason Starr

Ant-Man: Natural Enemy by Jason Starr is a Marvel mass market paperback. This is an original tale set in the Marvel Universe and features Scott Lang as Ant-Man and his daughter, Cassie. Scott Lang is trying to stay out of trouble and just be a father. Everything is going fine until the FBI shows up at his doorstep to take him and his daughter in protective custody.

Back when Scott Lang was a criminal, he testified against a guy named Dugan who has now escaped prison. Dugan is on a revenge tour and killing everyone who helped send him to prison. It appears that Scott is next on his murder parade. If Scott Lang were a normal person, maybe the FBI protection would be warranted. But, it is not as he is a superhero. Since the FBI has no idea that he is Ant-Man, it is up to him to protect himself and his daughter while trying to keep the FBI from figuring out his identity. It is a lot to deal with especially since his daughter is a typical teenager and causes some issues.

Ant-Man: Natural Enemy mostly hinges on the relationship between Scott and his daughter, Cassie. He often makes sarcastic jokes at various points while dealing with the complications of being a father, being an ex-husband, single, being an ex-con as well as a superhero as well as trying to work a regular job while being hunted by a man bent on killing him. The read also brings in Iron Man, aka Tony Stark, for some additional occasional humor.

This book is a good read for fans of Ant-Man or folks that would like to read something about Ant-Man. Ant-Man: Natural Enemy by Jason Starr has action, humor, mystery and is a fun read.

My reading copy came from the Central or Downtown Branch of the Dallas Library System before the libraries were closed in the middle of March due to the ongoing pandemic.
