Cowboys

Cowboys did it again up in Detroit. Makes their record 4-4 which is not getting the job done.

Somebody is going to have to take Dez Bryant to the side and explain to him how to act. Despicable behavior on the sidelines today. I have a feeling  what happened today with Dez and his sideline temper tantrums will be a lingering issue.

A mediocre record for a mediocre team. I figure they'll finish 8-8. Considering their division, they might get into the playoffs.

Totally mediocre, Bill. I really don't think 8-8 is going to do it. I think somebody, even the Giants, is going to go on a streak and take the division.

They showed the end of the Cowboys-Lions game here once the Eagles' debacle was over. That was some wild finish, whether you liked the outcome or not.

As for the Eagles, I've been unimpressed from the outset with Chip Kelly's schemes on both offense and defense. Call me unfair, if you will, since it's his first season and the team is clearly in a rebuilding mode, but there are certain issues that should have been addressed by this point in the season. I mean, if your pass defense is porous, tell the DBs to cover their assignments more tightly. And to the entire defensive squad: tackling is a fundamental football skill! You ought to be much better at it than you are at this stage in your careers!

On the offensive side, the run and pass blocking leaves a lot to be desired, as does the temporary absence of an experienced quarterback. Overall I find the offensive scheme fairly predictable. If I as an absolute amateur can usually predict what kind of play they're going to run, I know the opposition's defensive coordinator can.

I am rather surprised it has turned out this way considering how good they looked early on. The Eagles were scary and then it all went away.
