Press Release: North Texas Book Festival Accepting Grant Applications Until DECEMBER 5, 2014

Denton-- As it prepares for its annual public event April 11, North Texas Book Festival offers public libraries, school libraries and nonprofit literacy programs in North Texas grant opportunities. Grants are open to programs in, but not limited to, Denton, Dallas, Cooke, Wise, Tarrant and Collin counties.

For applications, go to www.NTBF.org or email ntbf10@verizon.net.  Applications are due by Friday, Dec. 5, and recipients will receive notifications by Monday, March 30.

“We encourage leaders of all library and literacy programs in North Texas to enter,” Katherine Boyer, NTBF’s treasurer, said. “The mission of North Texas Book Festival is to foster a love of reading, so members want to help libraries and literacy programs reach more people in their local communities.”

Lone Star Literacy Legend grants through NTBF encourage family interaction that will foster reading together and the love of books, Boyer said. The grants will supply funds for libraries to plan programs that put books into children’s hands and provide incentives for families to read together. One grant will fund a program or programs that are music oriented.

NTBF will honor grant recipients and authors at its annual Book Trails Dinner at 6 p.m. Friday, April 10, at Patterson-Appleton Center for the Visual Arts in Denton.

The book festival is slated for 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, April 11, at Patterson-Appleton Center for the Visual Arts in Denton.
