A Horrible Night In Dallas

Words fail me. It has been a horrible night in Dallas. Please think of the families and officers of the Dallas Police and Dallas Area Rapid Transit Authority today.

Our daughter's good friend's brother was at the demonstration, but he's OK. Yes, horrible.

Very glad he is okay. I am still stunned. The world has gone mad.

My heart goes out to Dallas and to its people. The deaths of the two men in Louisiana and Minnesota were terrible but should never have led to this.

Kaye, I'm glad your daughter's good friend's brother who was at the demonstration, is okay. I haven't accounted for my cousins yet, but I think they are down in Burleson.

It was terrifying to watch. I find it helpful to remind myself that, as far as we know now, the murders were committed by one man with a psychiatric disorder and a gun who took advantage of a large number of people having a peaceful demonstration.

Maybe I should add that the reason I find it helpful is that if we can find an acceptable way to keep people with certain untreatable disorders from owning guns we might be able to have better means to reduce and prevent these tragic events from occurring.

Agreed, Reine. It certainly does seem to be another case where mental health issues played a significant role.

No, it should not have, Carl. According to local media reports, the shooter claimed it was not just those two, but others as well. Unfortunately, every single killer always has a reason/justification why he or she decided killing and wounding folks was justified.
